Generate a hash to compare checksums.

How to use Hash & Checksum Generator

  1. Choose text input or a local file.
  2. Select SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512 and generate the digest.
  3. Copy the digest or compare it with a checksum from a trusted source.

Try an example

SHA-256 of the UTF-8 text abc, with no newline.

What to know before using Hash & Checksum Generator

Choose text or a file and select a SHA algorithm. Text is encoded as UTF-8, including whitespace and line breaks. Any file type up to 50 MB is supported. Compare the result against a trusted checksum to check integrity. Hashing is one-way and does not encrypt input; these fast hashes are not password-storage algorithms. Files are read locally and are never uploaded.
